Why don't you learn something easy like VB.NET.

This is the site I'm currently using. Very helpful for beginners to C++.

From what I've heard vb is like english, once you know it, its hard to learn any other language.

In most countries selling harmful things like drugs is punishable. Then howcome people can sell Microsoft software and go unpunished?
The Linux philosophy is "laugh in the face of danger". Oops. Wrong one. "Do it yourself". That's it.
Going from DOS to Linux is like trading a glider for an F117.

VB is not like English. COBOL is more like English. But I wouldn't recommend learning it, and being more "English-like" doesn't necessarily mean it will be easier to learn.

I recommend Python or Ruby.

Is it programming in general you want to learn, or C/C++ specifically?

Right, but anybody who already knows how to program will know how to learn a new language...so I'm guessing he doesn't know any.  I doubt whatever he wants to do will require languages as error-prone as C and C++.  So, if he only wants to learn to program, it'd probably be better to start with something easier.

Don't learn C++. Ever. It's a piece of shit, abomination of a programming language. To do anything even remotely involved you need to pick your poison of toolkits, extensions, and useless piles of shitty libraries which all have their own conventions and styles to adhere to. Do not do it.

Stick to pure languages. Static, type safe, garbage collected languages. You know, the ones that god intended.

Where the hell did you hear that and how do you figure? So many applications are programmed in C++ including Battle.net bots.

I know more C++ than anyone on this board. Thanks anyway though.
